Greetings Emerson Eagles!

I am so excited to be a part of the Emerson family!  I love working together to provide our students with the best possible education to create lifelong learners and future leaders.  My husband, Matt and I have two daughters, Molly (4) and Quinn (1).    Two other very important members of our family are our dogs, Butters and Manley. We love going on family adventures, running, golfing and reading.  It is important to know that I am a HUGE sports fan… I enjoy watching the Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears and Cubs!

I earned my undergrad in Elementary Education from Illinois State University.  During my first year of teaching I realized my passion for teaching literacy so I pursued a master’s degree in language and literacy from National Louis University.  After I finished the master’s degree, I felt that I still had a lot to learn so I earned my Doctorate in Reading.  While working toward that degree, I also pursued a general administrative endorsement from Roosevelt University.  I spent the first five years of my career as an elementary classroom teacher. The next three years I was a literacy instructional coach.  I supported teachers with the implementation of a new literacy curriculum aligned with the new Illinois Learning Standards and worked to ensure professional learning communities were implemented effectively. I spent the next four years as an assistant principal and now is my second year as the principal of Emerson.  I look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence at Emerson!
