My name is Marie Martens-Ford and I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year! I have been teaching for 19 years and this is my 18th year at Emerson. I have taught Early Childhood Special Education, Kindergarten, and First Grade. My absolute favorite is First Grade! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! firstname.lastname@example.org
I use the Seesaw app in my classroom to share pictures, notes, reminders, and work samples. I have mailed your child a welcome letter and I enclosed information about how to connect with Seesaw within our classroom. Please download the app ASAP after getting the letter because I have already posted some pictures of our classroom!
Please pack a healthy morning snack. Fruits and vegetables are always a good choice!

Ice Cream Social and School Supply Drop Off
Please join us for an ice cream social on August 14th, from 3:30-4:30 pm. First Grade is also asking that parents bring school supplies at this time. A parent/caregiver is encouraged to come in for the first hour of the first day (8:15-9:15) to help children organize their locker and desk. Thank you!
Our first day of school will be on Wednesday, August 15th! First Graders line up on the blacktop on the North side of the school. Please plan on joining us for the first hour of school (8:15-9:15) to help your child organize his or her school supplies. I will have a welcome letter that explains where everything belongs. Thank you, I couldn't do it without you!
We love to celebrate birthdays! District 205 does not allow edible treats for birthdays, so If you wish to send something to share with the class, it needs to be a non-edible favor such as a pencil, book, stickers, etc. If your child has a summer birthday, we will celebrate at the end of the year.
