Emerson News

Good afternoon Emerson Families!

I hope this message finds you well and filled with excited anticipation for the end of the year and all the fun events that comes with it! As you can see, with more fun comes more information! I apologize for the length of today's newsletter, but there is lots of important information.

We are excited to share that Mrs. Hernandez will be taking on the kindergarten position for the 2024-25 school year. While it is bittersweet for Mrs. Hernandez to leave third grade, her passion for teaching and unwavering commitment to our students will continue to inspire and nurture young minds in kindergarten. Mrs. Hernandez brings sixteen years of experience of primary grade level teaching, and we are excited as the kindergarten team continues to build its strengths with one another.

Our all-school field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry is fast approaching! We will be sending home information to register on PushCoin shortly. We have so grateful to our PTA for providing this experience, as well as a t-shirt for everyone who attends! Please complete this form by next Friday, April 26, to provide your child/ren's t-shirt size and volunteer to chaperone. This form should be completed for every child you have at Emerson; for example, if you have three children attending Emerson,  you will need to complete the form three times.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

Good afternoon Emerson Families!

It has been a great week here at Emerson! Our students had a blast watching the Solar Eclipse on Monday, and I know the staff and I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing it with them! My favorite things overheard during the eclipse were students counting down to 2:07 and then yelling, "Happy New Year!" We also heard that the eclipse looked like a "radioactive banana," but best of all was hearing our older students helping younger students with their glasses, answering their questions, and just having a great time bonding over the special experience with peers and staff. It is one of my favorite memories of the year.

Safety reminder: please prioritize the safety of our Emerson students by driving cautiously in the Drop and Go lot at Mary Queen. Refrain from using cell phones while driving on school premises, as distractions can lead to accidents. Please follow designated pick up procedures and set a good example for our children. If other adults and/or older siblings pick up your child, please share this safety reminder. Maintaining a safe environment is crucial, and we appreciate your cooperation.

We are also working on adding student artwork throughout the building this summer. If your child has any artwork they'd like to donate, or if they'd like to create an drawing, painting, mixed media, etc. of an eagle, we would love to display it our halls! Any work should be submitted by the end of the school year.

As I shared in last week's newsletter, we are hard at work planning for the 2024-25 school year. If you would like to share information that your current child's classroom teacher should know as they plan for class placement, please email them by April 22nd.

Thank you and have a fantastic weekend!

Good afternoon Emerson Families! I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break and got to enjoy some time off.

It is hard to believe we are already planning for the 2024-25 school year! Our staff has been hard at work preparing to make the next academic year an enriching and rewarding experience for your children. We are excited to share that we have the opportunity to deepen our impact next year across all grades through expanded programming and supports. For the upcoming school year, we will be welcoming an additional kindergarten teacher, an English Learner (EL) teacher, as well as a part-time Special Ed resource teacher.

We're excited about the possibilities the new school year holds and look forward to partnering with you to support your child's growth and development. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to email or call me.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good afternoon Emerson Families! I hope this message finds you well and getting ready to enjoy spring break!

It is hard to believe we are heading into spring break and have less than two months of school remaining when we return! The staff and I are looking forward to an exciting end of the year, which includes Spring Sing, Field Day, and our all-school field trip to The Museum of Science and Industry. Dates for those activities are in the Important Dates section; Spring Sing times are below and details for Field Day and the all-school field trip will be forthcoming.

We are excited to welcome families to Spring Sing on Friday, May 10th! Ms. Petit, our music teacher, and our Eagles have begun working on their songs and are already sounding fantastic! Each grade level will perform separately in the gym to allow for enough seating. Families will need to sign in by the main office and pick up a visitor's badge before entering the gym. We will begin promptly at the times below, and there will be approximately 10 minutes for pictures after the performance.

  • 4th Grade - 8:25-8:55
  • Emerson Singers - 9:05-9:35
  • 5th Grade - 9:50-10:20
  • 3rd Grade - 12:00-12:30
  • 1st Grade - 12:45-1:15
  • 2nd Grade - 1:30-2:00
  • Kindergarten - 2:15-2:45

I hope you and your child/ren enjoy the break! We'll see you in April!
